Recently we made a decision which will drastically change our family dynamic, roles, experience and parenting style.... Soon I will be home full time, and we'll be taking Bram out of his current Preschool and will continue his education out in the world with me as his facilitator. We LOVE his school, and it was a difficult decision. For weeks after we decided to do this we still hadn't put the plans in motion we kept thinking.... "Is this the right decision?" The thing is as parents you never know! You can just do your best and hope it will all work out.
Thankfully we have the ability and privilege to experiment with this choice, especially since he is not slated to start Kindergarten until Fall 2021, and we do not take this adventure for granted, Lee is incredibly supportive and is just as excited about the possibilities this will bring us. We plan to take it one day at a time, relaxing our schedule and expectations quite a bit, hopefully finding a natural rhythm that keep all of us happy, healthy and adventurous.
The first concern EVERYONE brings up when we tell them about our newest journey is "what about socialization?" Let me tell you.. we will not be bored! We will not be alone. I can not go a day without doing something, we both get bored very easily. I have already researched various options for ongoing social interaction so he can build a community and network of friends he can grow with. We are even visiting a local Homeschool Co-op that meets weekly to see if its a good fit. Lee and I are not worried about socialization AT ALL.
Our Hopes for Homeschooling:
I hope this decision will allow for more moments like this:
